Our President

Bill Bryson is our President.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1951, he settled in England in 1977 where he lived for many years with his English wife and four children in North Yorkshire. He is famous for his travel books, which reflect his gentle humour and love of people.
Bill is passionate about preserving the beauty of our countryside, and has strong views about electricity pylons, wind turbines, fly tipping and litter. His unique appreciation of what makes the English landscape worth looking after, is an asset for which we are very grateful.
He had barely settled into CPRE's hot seat, when he personally launched Stop the Drop, our national campaign against litter and fly-tipping. To find out what you can do to take part at a local level, click here!
