CPRE East Midlands
Campaigning for the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of the countryside

Landscape and Tranquillity

We all value the English countryside for its beauty, tranquillity and diversity.

The East Midlands has a diverse landscape including two nationally designated landscapes: the Peak District National Park and Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as the distinctive areas of Sherwood, Charnwood and Rockingham Forests. There are also heathlands and forest wood pasture in Nottinghamshire, ridge and furrow field patterns in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, grazing marshes in Lincolnshire, open moorlands, pre-enclosure landscapes and historic parklands.
