Natural Resources
Our health and wellbeing are inextricably linked to the quality of our air, water, soils and biological resources. We also rely heavily on natural resources for economic development.
Not only do we extract material from the environment for use in industry and to produce energy, but we also rely on functioning ecosystems for nutrient cycling, atmospheric and climate regulation, and the break down and mitigation of waste.
It is very important, then, that for continued quality of life in the future, the environmental limits of natural resources need to be understood and respected.
With consumer consumption increasing and predicted population growth, pressures on global and local natural resources are likely to increase.
But what happens when renewable energy measures threaten to alter the landscape? Where does the balance lie, between saving the planet and ruining what beauty that planet still has?
